New York Fashion Week for ready-to-wear fashion for Fall 2023 was characterized by a unique mix of minimalist style and maximalist style. Some designers celebrated nature and color, and their shows spread optimism, like the designer Wes Gordon for Carolina Herrera, Alice & Olivia, Anna Sui, and others. Others presented minimalist collections dominated by dark colors and a vintage and Victorian style.
Here are 4 trends that emerged strongly on the runways and defined the fashion for next fall, and you won't be able to do without them because they will become a staple in your wardrobe next fall:
#1 Ruffles
From the Aknvas house, we have chosen for you a dress adorned with ruffles on the skirt and an asymmetric hemline, with a prominent Spanish style with a sophisticated touch. Long satin gloves are still present and continued from the previous season, with a focus on a one-shoulder design or coordinated with long-sleeved blouses adorned with a turtle neck. What's distinctive about this outfit is the denim fabric, which has been decorated with ruffles at the bottom of the skirt, and the model wore it with metallic high heels, adding femininity and allure to the outfit.
#2 Fur
Designer Dennis Basso used artificial fur in indigo, white, and black, paired fur jackets and coats with shiny metallic pants in white and black, or paired green fur bolero jackets for evenings with a green herb crepe dress. He also sometimes used a Greige fur stole paired with a tight and long silver metallic dress with one long sleeve. No matter how simple the outfit is, adding a fur accessory like a stole, bolero, or jacket is enough to look elegant without much effort, and perhaps that's what the designer meant in executing fur jackets in basic or vibrant colors.
#3 Sculpted Shoulders
Some designers try to take inspiration from artworks or execute designs or constructions like how an engineer builds and designs a facility. This is evident in the perspective of Taussy, who designed evening dresses with sleeves based on geometric shoulder cuts and relies on the play of sizes. The dresses sometimes resemble artistic sculptures that add beauty to the outfit and serve the idea that the beautiful outfit does not need extravagant details, but prominent details that make it unforgettable.
#4 Color Block
The creative director of Carolina Herrera, Wes Gordon, tried to send a message of hope and optimism by focusing on striped fabrics and flower prints, but he relied on strong colors that he mixed in one outfit, dedicating the Color Block trend for the coming autumn. He used a color palette that is usually suitable for the summer season, such as fuchsia, canary yellow, and purple. He also added feminine ribbons and large knots that surround the waist, which is considered one of the basic features of the fashion house.
