If you're seeking to inject some edginess into your tennis-inspired outfit, look no further than Olivia Rodrigo's recent ensemble. The talented singer-songwriter, gearing up for the release of her highly anticipated sophomore album GUTS, made a bold statement during a day of press in New York City. Sporting a graphic tee featuring Martin Schoeller's “Angelina Jolie with Blood” print, which depicts the renowned actress and humanitarian with blood trickling from her lips, Rodrigo effortlessly blended goth girl chic with classic tennis whites.
Complementing the attention-grabbing tee, Rodrigo opted for a pleated white skirt, black oval sunglasses, delicate hoop earrings, and a touch of red lipstick. Her outfit exuded a fearless vibe, perfectly aligning with the themes explored in her new album.
During an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music, Rodrigo shed light on the album's title, GUTS, expressing her fascination with the word and its multifaceted meanings.
“It's such an interesting word. People use it in so many different contexts, like ‘Spill your guts.' ‘Hate your guts.' It signifies bravery, but it's also about intuition, listening to your gut,” she shared. “For me, it encompasses all of these concepts that I've been really contemplating in this chapter of my life.”
Olivia's fashion statement is not the only cause for celebration. MTV recently announced her inclusion as a performer at this year's VMAs, where she has received six nominations, including Video of the Year. In 2021, she dazzled the audience with her performance of “good 4 u” and walked away with three Moon Person trophies for Best New Artist, Push Artist, and Song of the Year. MTV recognized her album SOUR as “the fastest album in history to have all of its songs certified RIAA Platinum or higher.” Additionally, her latest single, “Vampire,” has climbed to the top spot on both the U.S. Top 40 and U.K. Official Singles Chart.
