Actors frequently take mementos from set as keepsakes of their time working on a project, and if there's one character's wardrobe that we'd absolutely love to raid, it's undoubtedly Rachel Green's from Friends. Interestingly, Jennifer Aniston did manage to hold onto a few clothing items from the beloved show, and she still incorporates them into her wardrobe to this day.
In a recent interview with WSJ. Magazine, Aniston disclosed that she still possesses two costume pieces from her time on Friends: a floral dress that originally belonged to Monica Geller (played by Aniston's real-life best friend, Courteney Cox) and Rachel's iconic red loafers. Last summer, Aniston provided fans with a peek at Monica's floral dress when she reposted a snapshot with her hairstylist Chris McMillan, during which she donned the famed frock. In a separate Instagram Story, Aniston shared images of Cox donning the same dress while in character. She playfully captioned it, “Does the dress look familiar? ???? Still got it! ❤️ @courteneycoxofficial @friends.”
It wasn't merely tangible items that Aniston took from her time on the Friends set. She also forged lasting friendships with Cox and Lisa Kudrow (who portrayed the quirky Phoebe Buffay), and gained invaluable insights into the industry and the art of salary negotiations.
“It taught us everything,” Aniston reflected. “It would’ve been detrimental for us, I think, if someone had been reaping financial benefits.”
In a video segment of the feature, Aniston delved into her iconic sense of style outside of the screen. When posed with the question of whether there's a specific red carpet look she'd want to revisit, Aniston didn't hesitate (even though one can imagine how difficult it would be to select just one standout ensemble from her extensive and fabulous fashion history). Her ultimate favorite outfit? The black one-shoulder Valentino gown (with the daringly high leg slit) that she wore to the 2010 Golden Globes. Interestingly, the fashion house recreated the gown for her when she couldn't locate the original.
“It was gorgeous,” she reminisced. “They've actually remade it for me because I couldn't find the original. Someone out there has it.”
For Aniston, when she's not gracing the red carpet or attending awards ceremonies, her go-to fashion formula is refreshingly simple: “Levi's and a T-shirt, paired with boots.” It's a timeless trend that Aniston believes will always remain in vogue.
