It's the era of romance… It's the time of roses, as romance was beautifully showcased with a theatrical flavor in the presentations of prestigious fashion houses on the second day of Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week for Fall/Winter 2023-2024. From Chanel's pink runway adorned with floral motifs on the paved stones to Armani Privé's Asian-inspired flower-themed creations, the second day of the exquisite shows was marked by Julien Fournié's theatrical designs, influenced by his background as a theater costume designer and his passion for scenography.
And let's not forget the musical world that transported us to the opulent halls of Garnier Opera, where the creative designer Stéphane Rolland presented his collection. The day concluded with Ronald Van Der Kamp's sustainable showcase and Alexis Mabille's femininity, which bloomed with roses, proclaiming a belief in romance that still resonates among Parisian designers amidst the uncertainty of the future.
It's the time of roses
Designer Giorgio Armani launched his exquisite collection under the theme “Le Temps Des Fleurs,” dressing the entire collection in fabric roses embellished with sparkling red beads. The designer incorporated red hues into all the garments, even on ivory and black fabrics. He blended Eastern and Western influences in his new collection, featuring Asian-inspired roses and jacquard fabric printed with flowers and botanical motifs on dresses and blouses.
Chanel's pink time
A romantic vibe dominated Chanel's exquisite showcase for Fall/Winter 2023-2024. The runway was adorned with floral motifs, and the color pink permeated the collection, whether through a striped blouse paired with a metallic gold skirt or through pink French-style headbands, complemented by sheer black stockings. To complete the feminine look, models carried baskets of rustic flowers instead of handbags. They wore the iconic Two-Toned Ballerinas in gold and black. Creative director Virginie Viard added some finishing touches, such as the golden metal belt.
What caught our attention in Chanel's showcase for the Fall/Winter 2023-2024 collection was the use of contrasting fabrics and printed materials combined in a wonderfully coordinated and intriguing manner. Tweed was present in almost every look, whether in skirts or blouses embellished with delicate and transparent fabrics. The wedding dress featured a short chiffon design with a short train.
Gold and silver unite at Alexis Mabille
Alexis Mabille's collection featured materials of gold and silver, imitating polished iron, steel, and copper within a modern framework. The garments were adorned with thin gold metal belts, and the high boots were inspired by futuristic aluminum foil, creating a futuristic and mysteriously attractive allure.
What also stood out in the collection was a high-waisted gold trousers paired with a thin jeweled belt. The blouse featured an asymmetric and embellished design with cascading layers of ruffles on one side, resembling a magnificent artistic sculpture.
A theatrical touch inspired by imagination
Inspired by the legendary opera singer Maria Callas, who has always been an inspiration for Cartier, the creative designer Stéphane Rolland presented a remarkable collection that was attended by the star Yousra. The collection was dominated by white tones and a monochromatic style within a theatrical framework adorned with geometric gold accessories. The Opera Garnier, where the late star performed her concerts, served as the perfect venue to showcase this artistic collection.
