Just hours after it was reported that Prince Harry paid a visit to Queen Elizabeth's final resting place to mark the first anniversary of her passing, several other members of the royal family chose to commemorate the day with a service in Wales.
As per a royal source for Entertainment Tonight, on Friday, September 8, Prince William, Kate Middleton, and other family members came together for the occasion to “remember and honor the life of Her Majesty The Queen.” The Duchess of Cambridge looked elegant in an aubergine coat dress featuring a V-neckline and cinching buckles, paired with matching accessories, including a bow-embellished fascinator and pointed heels. Her brunette hair was gracefully styled in a low bun, revealing a pair of pearl drop earrings. Completing her look were rosy cheeks and feathered lashes.
Prince William, on the other hand, wore a navy blue suit over a white button-up shirt, complemented by a coordinating blue tie.
The insider shared that the service took place at St. David's Cathedral and was deeply moving, featuring prayers in both Welsh and English.
“One of the most poignant moments during the service was the singing of ‘Thou knowest, Lord, the secrets of our hearts,'” the source recounted. “It brought back the somber emotions of the queen's funeral one year ago.”
The source added, “However, the most touching part of the service was when the prince accompanied his wife to place flowers beside an image of Her Late Majesty. As they stood there in reflection, the atmosphere was heavy with silence, echoing throughout the cathedral.”
While Prince Harry did not attend the family's service, it was reported that he made a private visit to St. George's Chapel in Windsor Castle on Friday during his stay in the U.K., according to The Telegraph.
