The Saks Fifth Avenue Friends and Family Sale offers two things that fashion lovers cannot resist: a rare 25 percent discount on new spring items, and a short window to take advantage of the deal, which unfortunately lasts only a few days. With over 52,000 items to choose from, it's not easy for everyone to prioritize their hunt for discounted fashion items, especially when life gets in the way. So, when this year's sale started, I didn't rush to fill my own shopping cart. Instead, I reached out to the Shiny Eve team to get their input on what items shoppers should purchase first.
In just a matter of minutes, my coworkers shared their can't-miss pieces that shoppers might have overlooked on their own. Jaclyn Alexandra Cohen, our senior fashion and accessories editor, found a sporty-chic upgrade to a white T-shirt from Wales Bonner, while Alison Cohn, our deputy fashion news editor, is eyeing a classic leather belt from By Far. Two editors found formal dresses destined for spring weddings, or any event that requires dressing up, from Rodarte and Rosie Assoulin. I also picked out a few remixed spring classics for myself and for you. As a shopping editor, I couldn't just keep 25 percent off a royal-approved DeMellier bag or Gucci cat-eye sunglasses to myself, right? (Answer: No, I wouldn't dare.)
Read on for the fashion deals we're rushing to order before the Saks Friends and Family Sale ends on Monday. And once you've had your fill of spring dresses, bags, and boots, we've also gathered the best sales of the week that deserve a spot in your closet.
#1: Wales Bonner Harp Plisse T-Shirt
Grace Wales Bonner's designs always feature a sporty twist on elevated classic pieces, and I love everything she creates. This T-shirt is no exception. Its ribbed, thin-knit fabric makes it luxurious, and the colors and stripes give it a cooler edge. It's definitely going into my cart!
#2 Manolo Blahnik Maysale 70MM Buckle Lace Mules
I might be one of the few fashion editors in New York who doesn't own a single pair of Manolos. Maybe it's my recent rewatch of Sex and the City, but I don't know how much longer I can resist the urge to buy a pair. Saks currently has so many Manolos on sale, and I love these lace crochet mules for summer. I am confident that these lace crochet mules would feel light and comfortable to wear even in the heat, and I have the urge to style them casually with some athletic shorts and a mesh soccer jersey.
#3: Christopher John Rogers Colorblock Oversized Turtleneck Sweater
I find sales around this time to be a great opportunity to stock up on fall and winter pieces that I anticipate I'll still love in six months. This CJR sweater is a perfect example. I won't get to wear it for a while, but I'll be damn excited when I finally do!
#4: By Far Vic Lizard-Embossed Leather Belt
Belts are a necessity for me because I love tucking everything in—T-shirts, cardigans, chunky sweaters, you name it. At the moment, I mostly have black and brown options, so this textured white belt from By Far is exactly what I need to round out my spring wardrobe.
#5: Maison Margiela Tabi Ankle Boots
The Maison Margiela Tabi Ankle Boots have captured the heart of one fashion editor who can't get enough of them. She already owns them in black and wears them frequently, but now she's considering adding a lighter shade to her collection. She can't resist the leather finish and knows that over time, it will develop a stunning patina that will only enhance its beauty. She plans to wear them with cropped, baggy jeans or a pair of white, pleated trousers with a wide leg.
